1961 Gibson Les Paul/SG Standard

Here’s a very cool example of a first-year SG. It was brought in by the original owner who purchased it in 1961 when he was 14 years old. Minus the replacement tuners, this guitar features all of it’s original parts. The original tuners, while not installed, will come with the guitar. What makes this guitar really shine are the two original PAF pickups, and original wiring harness.

The guitar has had a headstock and heel repair, as well as a full refinish by Lay’s Guitar in Akron. This work was done in the early 1980’s. There are a few small spots where the binding on the fingerboard has started to come away. Due to the lack of fret nibs, we think the guitar has been refretted. The neck is very straight with plenty of truss rod adjustment (0 threads showing.)
