1962 Fender Vibrasonic Amp 6G13-A – Brownface
We present an original 1962 Fender Vibrasonic Amp 6G13-A – Brownface. Made in Fullerton, California.
History
This rare Vibrasonic features Fender’s unique “Harmonic Vibrato” circuit — Fender’s only true pitch-shifting vibrato offered in an amplifier. Swampy, thick, and very Leslie-esque, it delivers a three-dimensional, full-bodied tone unlike any other Fender vibrato. This fantastic amp model was only offered between 1959 and 1963 as part of the Brownface amp line. It strikes the perfect balance between the dynamic, saturated tones of earlier Tweed-era amps and the clarity and shimmering cleans of the later Blackface line.
Condition
Cosmetically, this historical amp is in fantastic shape. The brown tolex is clean with minor nicks and dings. The control plate is clean, and the graphics remain perfectly intact. . The 9x original brown “barrel” knobs turns smoothly.
Originality
This ’62 Vibrasonic Amp features the original 6G13-A circuit which has been fully serviced with new capacitors and resistors so it can run perfectly. Comes with a newer 3-prong cord. All transformers are original as well. It features an original period correct 15″ JBL D130F speaker that provides plenty of clean headroom, but once the volume passes 5 on the dial, it cascades into raucous, touch-sensitive overdrive.
