The Loft at Lay’s Guitar Shop is not just a store. It is a space built for players. Tucked above the historic Lay’s Guitar Shop in Akron Ohio, our second floor showroom is where boutique guitars, vintage finds, and custom-built gear come together in a quiet curated environment designed to inspire.
This page offers a glimpse into what you will find when you visit in person. Our inventory changes often, but the experience stays consistent. Real tone. Real craftsmanship. Real instruments ready to be played.
Walking into The Loft feels different from stepping into a typical retail music store. Our space is quiet and focused. The walls are lined with carefully chosen guitars. Tube amps are set up and ready to go. And the atmosphere encourages you to slow down, pick up a guitar, and see where it leads.
We created this space for serious players and collectors who want to connect with their gear before making a decision. Every instrument is placed intentionally. Every amp is tested. And the goal is always the same — to help you find something that feels and sounds right.
We are open to the public on Tuesdays and Fridays from 11 AM to 5 PM. If you prefer a private experience or are coming from out of town, we also offer appointments on request. Appointments give you more time and personal attention in a quiet setting where you can try guitars at your own pace.
During your visit, you are welcome to:
The Loft is designed to be as much a discovery space as it is a shop. Whether you are buying today or simply getting a feel for what is out there, we are always happy to welcome players into the room.
While our inventory is always evolving, here is a snapshot of what you might find on any given day in The Loft:
A mix of boutique builds, custom shop models, and vintage electrics from names like Gibson, Fender, PRS, ESP, Knaggs, and more
Hand-selected acoustic instruments for players who value tone and responsiveness, including occasional vintage and custom builds
Quality four and five-string models chosen for tone and playability across styles
Unique builds crafted in-house by the master luthiers at Lay’s Guitar Shop, available to demo and purchase
Tube driven combos and heads from respected builders, including both modern boutique brands and vintage classics
A selection of strings, cables, straps, pedals, and essential accessories for stage and studio use
No two visits to The Loft are exactly alike. We are always rotating our stock based on availability, trades, and new arrivals. That is why many customers check in regularly or follow us on social media to stay current.
While the best way to experience The Loft is in person, we maintain a visual gallery that reflects the vibe and variety of the gear we carry. These images give you a sense of what to expect, but keep in mind that many pieces are one of a kind or available in limited quantities.
If you see something in a photo and want to know if it is still available, give us a call or send an email. We are happy to provide availability, specs, and pricing.
Our gallery reflects recent inventory but may not always show everything currently in stock. For the latest availability contact us directly.
